Answers to some of the questions we are asked most often. If yours is not here, we are always happy to help — just get in touch.
How much does therapy cost?
We are a Community Interest Company and work hard to keep support affordable, offering reduced rates and, where funding allows, free funded places. Costs vary depending on the service, so please contact us to discuss what is available.
Do you offer funded or free places?
Yes. Thanks to grants, community funding and charitable partnerships, we are able to offer subsidised and free funded places so that financial circumstances need not be a barrier. Availability depends on current funding.
Who can refer a child?
Parents and carers can get in touch directly, and we also accept referrals from schools, GPs, charities and other professionals who work with the child.
What ages do you work with?
We support children, young people and their families. The most suitable approach depends on the child's age and needs, which we will talk through with you.
Where do sessions take place?
We have centres in Uckfield (East Sussex) and Milton Keynes, and we work across Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and East Sussex, including in partnership with schools.
Do you offer online or in-person sessions?
Depending on the child's needs and the type of support, sessions may be offered in person or, in some cases, online. We will discuss what is most appropriate for your child.
How long does therapy last?
There is no fixed answer — some children benefit from shorter, focused support while others need longer. We regularly review progress with you rather than setting an arbitrary end date.
What happens in a first session?
The first session is about getting to know each other and helping the child feel comfortable. There is no pressure to discuss anything difficult straight away.
Is what my child shares confidential?
Yes, sessions are confidential and handled sensitively. However, confidentiality has limits: we may need to share information where there is a risk of harm or where the law requires it. See our data protection page.
What will I be told as a parent or carer?
We work in partnership with families. We will keep you involved in the plan and general progress, while also respecting the child's need for a private, trusting space.
What approaches do you use?
These include play therapy, EMDR, creative arts therapies, integrative counselling and trauma-informed support. See our therapies page for more.
How do I get started?
The easiest way is to email us. We will talk through your child's needs and explain the options, including any funded support that may be available.
