Integrative Counselling CYP

Integrative counselling for children and young people.

Integrative counselling gives children and young people a safe, confidential space to explore their thoughts and feelings with a caring, trained counsellor. Rather than following a single fixed method, an integrative approach draws on several therapeutic models and adapts them to the individual.

Who it is for

This support can help children and young people who are experiencing anxiety, low mood, worries about family or friendships, low self-esteem, or difficulties coping with change or difficult experiences. It is well suited to those who are ready to talk, and can be combined with more creative approaches for those who are not.

What sessions look like

Sessions are usually held regularly, at a consistent time and place, so the young person can settle and build trust. The counsellor follows the young person's lead, using conversation and, where helpful, creative activities. What is shared stays confidential, within the limits of keeping the young person safe.

How it helps

  • Space to feel heard and understood without judgement.
  • Tools to recognise and manage difficult emotions.
  • Greater confidence, resilience and self-awareness.
  • Healthier ways to cope with relationships and change.
