Origami Wings CIC is committed to providing safe, welcoming environments for children, families, staff and visitors, both at our centres and in the settings where we work.
Our approach
We take reasonable steps to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of everyone involved in our work, in line with our duties under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974. Health and safety is treated as part of everyday good practice, not an afterthought.
Risk assessment
- We carry out risk assessments of our premises, activities and sessions, and review them regularly and whenever something changes.
- We identify hazards, decide who might be harmed, and put sensible, proportionate measures in place to reduce risk.
- Play materials and equipment are chosen, checked and maintained with children's safety in mind.
- Staff and volunteers understand emergency procedures, including first aid and evacuation.
- Accidents, incidents and near-misses are recorded, reviewed and learned from.
When we work in schools or partner settings, we cooperate with their arrangements too, so that children are safe wherever a session takes place. Safety and safeguarding go hand in hand; please also see our safeguarding policy.
