Adoptive and special guardianship families offer children stability and love, often after a difficult start in life. This can bring particular joys and particular challenges. Our adoption and special guardianship support is here to walk alongside you.
Who it is for
This service is for adoptive parents, special guardians and kinship carers, and the children in their care. It recognises that early experiences of loss, separation or trauma can shape how a child relates, behaves and copes long after they have found a loving home.
What support looks like
Support is shaped around your family. It may include therapeutic input for your child, guidance for you as a parent or carer, and help in understanding attachment and the impact of early trauma. We work in a way that strengthens the relationship between you and your child.
How it helps
- A deeper understanding of your child's history and needs.
- Attachment- and trauma-informed strategies for daily life.
- Stronger, more secure family relationships.
- Support for your own wellbeing and resilience.
