This training helps school staff and other adults understand anxiety in children and young people, and feel more confident responding to it. Anxiety is one of the most common difficulties children face, and everyday responses can either ease it or unintentionally reinforce it, so a shared understanding across a team makes a real difference.
Who it is for
Teachers, teaching assistants, pastoral and inclusion staff, and other professionals or carers who want to support anxious children more effectively.
What you will learn
- What anxiety is, and how it affects the brain, body and behaviour.
- How anxiety can show up in the classroom, including avoidance and "fight or flight" responses.
- Practical, compassionate strategies to help children feel safe and manage worry.
- How to support a child through avoidance without accidentally reinforcing it.
- When and how to seek further help.
Format
The session is interactive, with discussion and practical examples drawn from real school life. It can be delivered in person at your setting or online, and tailored to your team's context and existing knowledge.
