Ways we work

How we work alongside children, families, schools and professionals.

At Origami Wings, we believe that transformation happens through connection. Every child, young person and family we meet is met with warmth, patience and respect, and every step of our work is guided by what will help that person feel safe.

Our guiding principles

  • Trauma-informed — we understand how difficult experiences shape feelings and behaviour, and we work at each person's pace.
  • Relationship first — trust is built gently, session by session, before anything else.
  • Accessible — financial circumstances should never be a barrier, so we offer reduced rates and free funded places through grants, community funding and charitable partnerships.
  • Collaborative — we work alongside parents, carers, schools and referrers, keeping families involved throughout.

The origami metaphor

Our name reflects how we work. Like folding paper into something new, change comes through many small, purposeful steps. A thousand cranes are made a single fold at a time, and progress in therapy is the same — each gentle step matters, and together they unfold a child's potential.

Rooted in community

Founded in 2019 to bring affordable therapeutic support to rural families with few options nearby, we work across the South East from our centres in Uckfield (East Sussex) and Milton Keynes. We partner with schools and charities so that more children can be reached.

What this means for you

You can expect clear communication, confidentiality handled in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, and a service that puts your child's wellbeing at its heart. To find out how we might help, explore our services or get in touch at hello@origamiwings.org.
